A dogleg left with fairway bunkers positioned on the left and right requiring a well-placed drive down the middle. The approach shot also requires accurate placement as the green is protected by a bunker at the rear and right.

A mound to the left and a run-off to the rear also make getting up and down difficult. A par on this hole is a good start to the Quarry course.

Joondalup’s signature “moon crater” hole. An accurate drive is required to avoid the steep grassy slope on the left and the large expanse of sand which intersects the fairway on the right. The approach up a steep slope to an elevated two-tier green requires careful club selection to land on the correct tier.

Bunkers front left and back right will catch wayward shots. A shot short of the green will end up in the “moon crater”. Putting from the top tier to the lower tier is fraught with risk as your ball may also end up in the “moon crater” 60 m away.

A stunning yet visually intimidating par 3 hole with a full carry required over the large quarry to avoid the Penalty Area and reloading. Anything left, right, short, or long will either be bunkered or lost forever.

The large two-tier green is three-putt territory if not on the correct tier.

A double dogleg par 5 with the final third of its fairway played over and around a 100 m sand hazard at the base of a 3 m cliff. You need a ladder to climb into this bunker and a prayer to get out. An accurate drive is required short of the right fairway bunker.

The options for the second shot are to lay-up short of the sand or attack the cliff. The latter will require aggressive play to bite off enough of the hazard to reach a plateau fairway. From there, a short pitch and birdie opportunity awaits if you are on the correct side of a spine which splits the green. The reward for the successful gamble is immense but the risk colossal, making this hole one of the more exciting to play.

This slight dogleg left plays downhill from the tee and around a quarry. The drive is straight forward but be careful not to run out of fairway, or worse, go beyond the fence and Penalty Area into the quarry.

Depending on where the flag is positioned and the wind direction, the approach shot over the quarry can be very intimidating. It is critical to hit the right landing area on this heavily contoured green, otherwise a three putt or worse will result.

This relatively short par 4 plays from an elevated tee and may be intimidating for short hitters who must carry the Penalty Area. The drive must avoid a large expanse of sand down the left side and a bunker on the right.

A well-positioned fairway bunker may restrict the longer hitters from taking driver. The approach shot is uphill to an elevated green protected by a large bunker at the front. The green slopes from back to front and has many undulations making it tricky to read.

A challenging long par 3 off the back tee, with bunkers protecting the back and front right of the green. The latter requiring a long carry to clear. The safest shot is to land the ball on the left side of the green and then trust your putting skill.

The left side of the green slopes from back to front and the right side sits in a bowl with a ridge dividing the two sides. A par 3 is a good result here.

This par 5 is an eagle chance for the long hitters if there is no head wind. The drive is protected by bunkers left and right. The second shot, if laying up, needs to avoid fairway bunkers down the right side. This will leave a short pitch to a three-tiered green protected by a bunker front right and mounds and a grassy hollow on the left making getting up and down difficult.

The green slopes from left to right with many intricate slopes making long putts extremely difficult if not on the correct tier. All in all, an excellent risk-reward hole.

This hole typically plays into a breeze and requires a solid drive to clear the left fairway bunker. A wayward drive will find the right bunker, or worse, thick bush on the left and right of the fairway. The approach is important with the green protected by a bunker front right, with mounding, slopes, and grassy hollows around the green.

A back to front sloping green with the back third sitting in a hollow only adds to the difficulty here. Four is a great score on this hole.
